Tire Cleaning - No Liquid on the track please.

Please give all cars a light sand with #600 grit sandpaper be for placing the cars on             the track  on arriving  to each race meeting and practice.

The #600 paper seems the best way to get good grip so can also be used during                 race meetings or practice sessions.

The tires must be completely dry before being placed on the race track surface                     at any time.

If the bearings or gears are lubed the car must be run on a test bed                                      and tires wiped before being placed on the track.

The tires can cleaned with a rag dampened with water Then wiped with a dry clean             cloth. The tires are left to dry before placing on the track.

After cleaning with a damp rag the tires can also be dried by running on fine                         sandpaper pad on the test bed instead of waiting for them to air dry.

Marshaling Magnets- (not compulsory)

Magnet Polarization -  Check with a compass held near where the magnet is located

North points away from the car ( South towards the magnet ).

This applies for both the marshal magnet & the down force magnets (under the car)

Touring & GT Cars - Place one magnet inside and in the center of the roof

Scalextric F1 2001+.  and Open Cockpit Sports Cars - require 2 magnets - one in each side pod.

Marshals are equipped with a clamping pick up arm with a strong magnet

fitted to one of the "claws" of he pick up arm .

The magnets in the car must be fitted so they are polarized to be attracted to the magnets

in the pick up stick.  Once one of your cars is correct polarity use it to check the others are

the same polarity  by having a marked test magnet to check the new car against the correct car.

Check the down force magnet under the car also with your marked  magnet.

Sometimes the down force  magnets have to be rolled 180 degrees in the holder.

A Lane Sticker can indicate magnet position

Touring cars  & GT Cars - It is advised to place a large lane sticker on the roof

indicating where the magnet is located.

(Note! Place a small sticker for the other lane  over the Large sticker when required.

Remove the small sticker when returning to the original lane. Presto less sticker changes! )

Open Wheeled Cars  - (F1 & Indy, ) and open sports cars

Place one small  lane sticker over each magnet -(if they are located in the pods. )

or if one magnet use one sticker over the magnet position.

Contact adhesive (Selly's Gel Grip) is used to stick the magnet(s) to the body.

Another magnet placed on the outside of the roof retains the marshal magnet(s) while the glue sets.
