FULHAM PARK RACEWAY
Hi, just 2 Fridays to our first race meeting for 2010 on February 12th.
We have fitted the new urethane tires to several of the GT300 class cars and tried them at practice.
Two cars have produced 6.9 secs Lap times. Most are down to 7.2 secs.
It does take a little experimentation to get the right tire to do the job on a particular car.
So please see me about getting your tires fitted before February the 12th.
I should have some times available so just send me some possible times and I will find what is convenient.
It will be impossible to fit them on the night of February 12th in most cases & get the optimum result.
The cost of the Urethane tires fitted & trued is $7 at the moment.
Just to make it clear ( I think I have said this before) the old Indy Grip or other brand of silicon tire
are now not to run on any track at FPR.
The Reasons are:
1. Most commercial , club and private tracks with a "Ferrocraft" painted surface do not permit the use of silicon tires.
2. The silicon tires strip off any "rubberizing" of the surface as deposited by rubber or urethane tires.
3. the result of reason 2. is a surface with less adhesion for many laps until re-rubberized.
This has also been the case on our Carrera plastic surface.
4. Silicon tires are commonly known as "Dust Magnets" and need regular cleaning of the tires if they run
off into the "marbles" and dust off the racing line.
The rubber & urethane tires still need cleaning but less frequently
5. The most important reason is that you will be able to use your cars (depending on "local" rules) at most slot car tracks
in Australia for cruising or racing. (All this all for the one low price of $7)
Now for the race meeting Format:
6.30 pm Practice
7.30 pm Event 1 - Sprint cars on the Oval 1.0 minute heats

THE ADELAIDE CLASSIC **** new event ****
Group 1 - Models of ATCC raced cars prior to 1979 - 1/32 scale - (Livery does not have to be the same)
Group 2 - Models of all classics - Sports/GT , Formula I & Touring cars raced before 1989 - 1/32 scale.
metal chassis cars can run in Group 2. This Group will be run as "Crash and Burn" to keep speeds down and
lessen chance of car damage. - similar to the touring class at the Adelaide classic.
For G1 & G2 there will be 4 heats for each entrant in each group. You can run in each group on the same night.
You can run a different car in each heat of each group if you wish.
How do we work out the winner of each group ?
I am not sure if we will worry about that I think the Adelaide Classic may be just for fun! .
SERIES 1 for 2010
The February 12th is the Heat 1 of the Series 1 .

2010 Series 2 is from May to July - 4 heats
2010 Series 3 is from September to December - 4 heats
At this stage there are no prizes for each of the heats only for the series results.
this will mean better & different trophies.
As I have now retired form work I income is limited I have retracted from sponsoring the wine for prizes.
Some of your $5 donation each race or practice night will now be needed for track and amenities maintenance.
We have rearranged the race program to enable those who may be running late to still enter the V8 Supercars/F1 event even if they will have to miss out on the Sprint Cars.
We will endeavor to finish the race night at 10.30pm
To help with this please help to make the change over between races is as quick as possible.
We will announce competitors in the next race while line up is happening for a race.
Please leave your car for the current class in the pit area or at a convenient safe position on the track to save time between races.
Also try to clean tires & fit stickers before you are called to line up (even during the proceeding race).
We will leave damp cloths and sticker dispensers at points around the track to help with this.
Hope to CU on the 12th of February,
